If you have this, more power to you. If you don't, and you just want to use the phone without adding Bluetooth to your car, it's not going to work for you. The windshield mount also does not offer a full 360 degree rotation, so if you place the mount at the far side of the windshield away from you, it can be a little difficult to rotate it to face you comfortably. The only complaint I have is about the vent mount - it is a little less able of holding onto my vents and can be shaky during use. It only turns about 15-20 degrees either way. It goes up/down quite a way, but not side by side, which is simply bad design. I use the vent attachment with no problems. I highly recommend for anyone with a touchscreen smartphone.

I bought the Akron universal windshield mount about 8 months ago. I moved it between two cars approximately every two weeks during this period. The Thunderbolt is a large, heavy phone with a side micro-USB charger port. I had some concerns with other universal car mounts because of the charger port location.

If it works just great for this phone with the Otterbox, it will work for any phone. I have it on the windshield and haven't had any problems at all, great product! Can turn phone to landscape view by just turning while in the mount. It doesn't bounce too much while driving. It holds the phone nice and tight and the clips fit perfectly in my RAV4 vents. For me, this was a great purchase.

It doesn't matter whether you have a cover or case on it. The only problem might be if your phone has side buttons you need to access while driving. Hard to believe such a useful, quality product can cost so little. I would pay more if I ever had to replace and that pretty much says it all. Going through bumpy roads, the mount starts rattling loudly, which is also annoying. Other than that, it is a good product that helps me focus on the road. And it is very adjustable. I can view the phone in the landscape or portrait mode.

I'll just give it to a friend who has a Droid X and see how it goes with him. I really lucked out on this one. I've used it less than a week and I am not sure about lasting durability, though the product seems to be made very well. I cannot comment on the vent attachment or the dash attachment as I didn't use them.

After shopping around a lot, I found this to be the perfect fit for my Droid X. generator enclosure.
