Just like in sight we normally run through a very focused window of listening. For example, as someone is speaking to us we're targeted on what they are saying. Similarly with listening to the television and listening towards the radio. Or perhaps perhaps listening to an announcement on the train station. Generally we will concentrate our sense of listening from one sound to the subsequent sound.
