11 Nov 09 Taylor Swift’s Concert Sells Out In Austin – Get Tickets

Next year, country music star Taylor Swift will be returning to the United States for an another leg of her sold-out tour, titled "Fearless". She will be swinging into Austin, Texas on March 10, 2010, appearing with Kellie Pickler at the University of Texas's Frank Erwin Center. The show, which will be opened by new artist Gloriana, sold out within minutes. Swift's second release, titled "Fearless", just like the tour, was the highest 2008 debit for any country artist. The album brought forth two chart-topping singles, "Love Story" and "White Horse', both of which emphasized Swift's incredible crossover appeal. Her appeal was the reason that the Academy of Country Music recognized her for her ability to attract younger fans to country music, and she is the youngest country star to be nominated for the prestigious country music Entertainer of the Year. With almost 600,000 combined sales in digital downloads, her first two albums are the best in digital history.

At the MTV Video Awards, Taylor found herself at the center of the viral media universe when she won Best Female Video for "You Belong to Me". Kanye West, reportedly inebriated, leaped onstage, took the microphone from Swift and shocked everyone by saying that Beyonce's video for "Single Ladies" was one of the best videos of all time. The incident backfired on West, who was lambasted in in the press, and after Taylor appeared on The View, Kanye called Taylor to apologize.

Not only has Taylor Swift been recognized as a musical artist, but she also has been recognized for her philanthropic efforts, launching a campaign in 2007 to protect children from internet predators. She also donated $100,000 to the Red Cross following the massive flooding that affected Iowa in 2008, and has generously given to the St. Jude's Children's research Hospital.

The Frank Erwin Center in Austin was originally constructed in'77 for the University of Texas at Austin, and in 2003, the Center completed $55 million in renovations. The renovations included safety upgrades, improvements to the Lone Star reception hall, concession stands and new scoreboards.

Taylor Swift will make her acting debut next year in the Garry Marshall-directed film, "Valentine's Day" as part of an ensemble cast. She had previously appeared in the "Hannah Montana" movie and "The Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" in 2009.
